Safety review

Since 2002 nuclear power plant operators have been required by section 19a of the Atomic Energy Act to undertake a periodic safety review every ten years. The objective of a periodic safety review is to assess the control which the safety system provides over the range of potential incidents assumed in the design of the plant and defined in the regulatory system.
